Uncorked & Unapologetic: STORY April 30

Some people walk into a room and change it. Spring Council is one of those people.

On Thursday, April 30 from 5:30–7:30 PM, Tandem at Carr Mill Mall welcomes chef, author, and food writer Anita Spring Council for an  evening of storytelling, Southern bites, and genuine connection. Content Matters and Tandem present STORY — the second event in the Uncorked & Unapologetic series — and Spring is exactly the kind of woman this series was made for.

Daughter of the legendary Mildred “Mama Dip” Council, Spring grew up in Northside Chapel Hill watching her mother feed a community that never stopped growing. That legacy lives in every page of Southern Roots (W.W. Norton), her debut cookbook — and in every room Spring enters. She knows what it is to be doubted, to keep cooking anyway, and to arrive fully, without apology, exactly where she belongs.

Guests will gather for cocktails and bites drawn straight from the pages of Southern Roots, curated by Tandem’s kitchen team and set to live jazz. Spring will sign copies of her cookbook and share her story — joined by Erin McMullen of Durham Distillery, whose own journey of building and rebuilding a women-led brand in a tough industry echoes themes close to Spring’s heart.

This is not a panel. It is a gathering. Come ready to eat, listen, and leave feeling like you belong in every room you walk into.

Ticket proceeds benefit the Mama Dip’s Share the Love Fund, founded by Spring Council to support youth development across the Triangle.

“I’d love to have you at my table.” — Spring Council

Tickets are $25 at order.toasttab.com/online/tandem-restaurant

STORY is the second event in the Uncorked & Unapologetic series. The series closes this spring with VISION — an art gallery showcase celebrating women investing in women.
